The history of Village du Bosc
1971 - Octon, a territory dedicated at the naturism
The municipality of Octon set aside 70 hectares to welcome naturists. This decision pays tribute to Paul Vigné d’Octon, a former mayor, member of parliament, doctor and writer, known for his progressive commitments. He founded in the village a place called the Maison du Soleil Naturiste, an early symbol of a philosophy of life in harmony with nature.
1976 - Pierre and Nina's favourite
After years of involvement with the CCDF (Cultural Center for the Development of Naturism), Pierre Rataud discovered Octon. Captivated by the region, he decided, together with his wife Nina (originally from Florence), to purchase a first plot of land.
They installed bungalows there, manufactured in their joinery workshop in Vendée, as an addition to an existing campsite in the nearby forest. However, as this campsite did not have the necessary authorizations, the Mayor of Octon suggested that they purchase new land on the right bank of the Bosc stream in order to create an officially designated camping area.
1981 - Official authorisations and the start of an aventure
All the necessary administrative approvals were finally granted, allowing the project to fully come to life.
Thus began a remarkable human and natural adventure, in a land as beautiful as it is unpredictable.
« Trying to tame it would have been futile, Pierre likes to say. Working with it instead was our choice and it remains our vision today. »
Today - The next generation, represented by Nathalie and her husband François
It is now Nathalie, their daughter, who proudly takes up the torch. She is committed to keeping the family "paradise" alive and evolving a haven built with love and passion by her parents while staying true to the founding values of naturism and respect for nature.
